Jeffrey Dean Morgan Praises Brendan Fraser Comeback After Viral Video

Jeffrey Dean Morgan praises Brendan Fraser’s comeback after the viral video of his emotional reaction to The Whale getting a standing ovation.

On the heels of another former costar sharing their love for him, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has praised Brendan Fraser’s comeback after the viral video from The Whale premiere. Morgan, best known for his role as Negan on The Walking Dead, previously collaborated with Fraser on the poorly received historical miniseries, Texas Rising, on the History Channel. The show explored the Texan Army and Texas Rangers as they tried to fend off the forces of Santa Anna in the wake of the Battle of the Alamo, with Fraser starring as Ranger Billy Anderson while Morgan starred as Texas Revolution Captain Deaf Smith.

After a memorable hiatus from the industry, Fraser has enjoyed a steady return to the spotlight, with Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale serving as the next major step in his return to stardom. Fraser stars in the film as Charlie, a 600-pound middle-aged teacher who struggles to correct the errors of his past and reconnect with his seventeen-year-old daughter, who he abandoned years before in favor of his gay lover that later died. Upon making its Venice International Film Festival premiere, Fraser and his The Whale cast and crew received a memorable six-minute standing ovation, with a video subsequently going viral of Fraser’s emotional response to the applause and now one actor is sharing his respect for the actor.

As the viral video continues to draw heartwarming tears from fans, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has joined the list of celebrities celebrating Brendan Fraser’s comeback. The Texas Rising actor praised his former costar, offering an emotional message that he is “so f—-n’ happy for this dude.” Check out Morgan’s sweet post below:

Morgan is the latest former Fraser collaborator to take to social media to celebrate the actor following the video of his emotional response going viral. Dwayne Johnson, who made his feature debut acting alongside Fraser in The Mummy Returns, described feeling “so happy” to see his former costar, while his Batgirl co-director Adil El Arbi called it a “great honor” to work with him on the film and saying he deserves the best. Morgan’s response to Fraser’s emotional viral video is sure to warm the hearts of fans of the actor, especially those disappointed in the Batgirl movie’s cancelation.

While some films that debut to a major standing ovation at festivals ultimately receive a mixed response on release, early The Whale reviews have been largely positive, with the film sitting at an 85 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Between the initial positive response and general love for the star, awards season chatter has begun to build around Fraser, with many calling for him to be nominated or win his first Oscar for his emotional leading turn. Audiences can look forward to Fraser’s comeback film with The Whale slated for a December 9 release.
