Knives Out fans are loving Benoit Blanc’s outfits in Glass Onion, with some on Twitter hailing him as the best-dressed character of 2022.

Knives Out fans are losing their minds over Benoit Blanc’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery outfits. Glass Onion is the sequel to Rian Johnson’s 2019 murder-mystery film Knives Out, which received massive critical acclaim upon its release. The film series stars Daniel Craig as private detective Benoit Blanc, who is hired to investigate mysterious murders. Glass Onion had a limited one-week theatrical release in November, before streaming exclusively on Netflix on December 23. Like Knives Out, the Netflix film has an all-star cast that includes Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Dave Bautista, and Kate Hudson.

Since the Netflix release of Glass Onion, Knives Out fans on Twitter have been going wild for Blanc’s Mediterranean looks in the film. Glass Onion sees Craig’s Blanc wearing layered pinks, blues, and beiges, a series of colorful neckties, and a lot of stripes. How Benoit Blanc Is The Best Modern Private Detective

While Glass Onion revealed more about Blanc’s character than Knives Out did, including the fact that Blanc is canonically gay, director Rian Johnson says that there’s no chance of Blanc getting his own prequel film. Instead, Johnson said he prefers to focus on the mystery of each individual Knives Out film rather than delving into any one character. However, fans of the franchise are clamoring for more Benoit Blanc, with some even calling him the best modern private detective.

Unlike other modern detectives in popular culture, who seem to largely follow the influence of Sherlock Holmes, Benoit Blanc is an entirely new approach to a classic character archetype. Blanc doesn’t dress in dark, professional attire, has a thick Southern accent, and is far more blunt, crude, and humorous than other private detectives. Blanc’s character fits in perfectly with Johnson’s murder-mystery films, which also take on a similarly colorful and lewd tone, making the Knives Out franchise stand apart from other mystery movies.

Where Knives Out 3 Could Take Blanc

In 2020, Netflix purchased two sequels to Knives Out, meaning that after Glass Onion, there is at least one more film in the franchise set to be released. While there is no release date yet, Craig is confirmed to return, with his involvement being a condition of Netflix’s purchase. Similarly to how Knives Out didn’t set up Glass Onion, the sequel film hasn’t set up any particular path for Blanc, as each film is very much a whodunit standalone. With Blanc having already traveled to a mansion in Massachusetts and a yacht in Greece, Knives Out 3 could take Benoit Blanc anywhere – and viewers of Glass Onion are already eager to see the private detective’s newest wardrobe.
