The Cincinnati Bengals’ win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night marked the first time in franchise history that the Bengals won a playoff game in back-to-back seasons. And to celebrate the accomplishment, head coach Zac Taylor brought back a tradition that started during the Bengals’ Super Bowl run last year.
Taylor and the Bengals once again sent game balls to Cincinnati bars after the 24-17 victory, with Taylor personally delivering a ball to one establishment called The Blind Pig.
Bengals safety Vonn Bell also stopped by a local bar to hand-deliver another ball.
Taylor, still wearing his team hoodie in the early hours of Monday morning after the Bengals punched their ticket to the divisional round and a date with the Buffalo Bills, even hopped into the DJ booth at The Blind Pig to fire up some raucous patrons, many of whom were clad in Bengals gear.
“Y’all are the best fans in all the world,” Taylor said. “Appreciate all your support. We need you next week in Buffalo. Find a way to get up there.”
Taylor told reporters that the Bengals are expanding their game ball outreach program this year to some bars outside of the Cincinnati area, and that he plans for the custom to keep going.
“That tradition is never going to die,” Taylor said.
