DC’s new Harley Quinn actress Lady Gaga hints that she’s now filming her scenes for Joker: Folie à Deux, which started production in December.

The box office, critical, and awards success that Joker achieved upon its 2019 release made it seem likely that Warner Bros. would find a way to make a sequel starring Joaquin Phoenix. Joker 2 was finally confirmed to be coming in 2022 when director Todd Phillips revealed the script was finished and shared the title. It immediately teased the potential for Harley Quinn to appear, with the casting of Lady Gaga as Joker’s love interest confirming the major development for the sequel. She confirms that she’s “on set filming now” but does not plainly state which movie or TV set she is part of. However, Joker: Folie à Deux is the only upcoming project confirmed to include Lady Gaga. The inclusion of a Joker playing card emoji at the end of the post is the most obvious hint that Gaga is filming Joker 2 right now.
How Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn Fits Into Joker 2
The introduction of Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn will bring a brand-new element to Joker 2 that the first movie lacked. The Joker: Folie à Deux title hints that Harley will be as equal of a focus as Arthur Fleck. Folie à Deux refers to a mental illness that two people share, and Joker 2 will explore that by bringing Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn into Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker’s life. This could allow the sequel to have a better exploration of mental illness than the first film.
