A brand-new motion poster for Scream 6 sees Ghostface make his mark on New York City as he takes over Central Park. Last year’s Scream (2022) saw the beloved slasher franchise revive its slick meta-formula as a new generation of Woodsboro residents are terrorized by the Ghostface killer. Scream 6 will see Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega return as sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter following a move to New York City, however, with Ghostface having also made the transfer over to the East Coast, it appears the horrors are only just beginning.
As audiences gear up for this exciting new installment, Scream 6 receives an eerie new motion poster. Check out the brand new poster, below:
Shared by Paramount, the poster sees the bodies of water within New York’s Central Park rearranged to resemble Ghostface’s horrifying mask. The motion poster zooms out as night falls on New York and Ghostface is lit up within the city lights. The poster also showcases Scream 6‘s epic tagline “New York. New Rules.“
What Scream 6’s New Location Means For Ghostface
While the Scream franchise has previously stepped away from the tormented town of Woodsboro, Scream 6‘s New York location is a first for the horror series. Naturally, a change in location is interesting enough on its own, although Scream 6‘s stars have already discussed the ways in which New York makes for a particularly exciting playground for Ghostface. Barrera shared how Scream 6‘s city location means that onlookers are much less likely to intervene, something Ghostface will likely use to his advantage.
Ortega has also teased how Scream 6 will see the “most violent” Ghostface yet, with many expecting to see an uptick in gore in this already bloody franchise. It’s also worth noting that the Carpenter sisters have not moved to New York alone, with Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown’s Chad and Mindy having accompanied them, as well as returning legacy characters Courteney Cox and Hayden Panettiere. Last month, the first Scream 6 trailer offered audiences their very first glimpse at how Ghostface will wreak havoc across the Big Apple, and it seems the notorious killer may be thriving in this new highly-populated environment.
With just over a month to go until Scream 6 slashes its way into theaters, the film’s promotional releases have been impressive. Another recent Scream 6 poster played on the film’s New York location by reimagining a subway map that featured the names of some of the franchise’s most memorable characters, sparking some speculation that Scream 6 could see the return of some familiar faces. However, with this new installment set to introduce a host of new victims for Ghostface’s next reign of terror, it remains to be seen just who, if anyone, will make it out of Scream 6 alive.
