Rupert Grint Outsmarted Security & Stole Odd Prop From Harry Potter Set

[ad_1]

Rupert Grint reveals how strict set security on the last day of filming the final Harry Potter movie forced him to get creative when stealing a prop.

Harry Potter star Rupert Grint explains how he outsmarted security and stole an odd prop on the final day of shooting for the franchise. Based on the beloved novels by author J.K. Rowling, the mainline Harry Potter franchise ran from 2001 to 2011, chronicling the epic journey of Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Grint), and Hermione (Emma Watson). Considering they had played their respective roles for ten whole years across eight films, the final day of filming was undoubtedly an emotional affair and Grint’s latest comment reveals that he wanted to keep an item from the set as a keepsake.

In a recent interview with People, Grint recalls that, on the last day of filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, security on set was particularly strict to prevent any props from being stolen. The actor explains that he had to get a little creative when it came to smuggling an item off of the set, and the item itself is certainly an interesting choice. Check out Grint’s full comment below:

“They were really strict. The last few days, there was security at the gates literally searching cars. But I did get away with the door number of Harry’s house. I had to unscrew it. It was so shady.”

Will The Original Harry Potter Cast Ever Return?

Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny stand on Platform 9 3/4 in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

It’s now been over ten years since the last Harry Potter film, but interest in the franchise remains. The Fantastic Beasts spinoff films may not have struck the same chord as the original series of movies, but Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint continue to be asked if they would be willing to return to their roles. While Radcliffe has been fairly clear that he’s not interested in returning just yet, his costars seem a little more willing.

Watson has previously confirmed that she would be open to reprising her role as Hermione if Rowling, who is now a controversial figure due to remarks that have been deemed transphobic, wasn’t involved in the project in any way. Grint has also expressed that he’s open to returning as Ron in a future Harry Potter project, but only if his costars also reprise their roles. In the future, if Radcliffe were to change his tune, it’s unclear what project the three original stars would return for.

With the Fantastic Beasts movies now seemingly on ice, a film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a stage play, may seem like a logical place for the franchise to go next. The movie would introduce a host of new, younger characters while bringing back older versions of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. With Radcliffe mostly focused on projects outside the Harry Potter universe at the moment, however, it’s looking like a potential; reunion between the three original stars is still a number of years away.
