Screen Rant is thrilled to present an exclusive clip from the new-found footage horror movie The Outwaters. The movie follows a group of four young friends who head into the desert, led by a charming LA filmmaker. While everything starts out normal enough with the group having fun exploring the desert, there are strange moments that interrupt their peaceful film shoot as unexplained noises, vibrations, and odd animal behavior occur. However, one night, the terrifying reality seeps into their camp, sending the group on a nightmarish, mind-altering trip of terror.

The Outwaters has gained attention after a successful run of film festivals, beginning with its premiere at the New Jersey Film Festival in February 2022. The new horror movie is distributed by Cinedigm and Bloody Disgusting and had a teaser trailer shown ahead of the distributor’s other film, Terrifier 2. The Outwaters is set for a limited theatrical run in cities across the United States and some areas in Canada starting February 9. Following this theatrical run, The Outwaters will be available exclusively on the horror streaming service Screambox.

More About The Outwaters

The Outwaters

Screen Rant’s exclusive clip from The Outwaters begins with an ominous title card labeling this footage as evidence of the Mojave County Police Department. It’s also important to note that they specifically mark this footage as uncorrupted data. The footage shows two men, one on camera and another who is only heard, filming. They decide to peek outside to investigate the strange animal noises they hear.

Banfitch taps into primal fears with his new horror movie, exploring strange occurrences in the desert, isolation, and darkness. The found footage style of storytelling brings a feeling of authenticity to the story as audiences are lulled into a sense of security at the beginning meeting the group of four young characters only to slowly see the oddities and eventual nightmarish effects of the dessert as they try everything they can to survive.

The Outwaters is written and directed by star Robbie Banfitch. Banfitch is no stranger to horror, having previously written and directed Tinsman Road and White Light. The Outwaters cast also includes Angela Basolis, Michelle May, Scott Schamell, and Leslie Ann Banfitch. The Outwaters is produced by Beau J. Genot and Banfitch, with Robert Abramoff serving as the executive producer and original music by Salem Belladonna. The Outwaters is presented by Cinedigm and Bloody Disgusting.
