Following their unveiling in The Flash movie trailer, the film’s costume artist reveals details about some of Michael Keaton’s seven Batman’s suits. One of the biggest DCEU installments in 2023 will be The Flash movie, which has been in the works since 2014, when Ezra Miller was cast. Loosely based on the Flashpoint storyline, The Flash will be a crucial film for the DCEU as it is essentially the beginning of the end for the franchise. The Flash will reset the interconnected continuity and set up the new DC Universe from DC Studios. But before that happens, the DCEU adventure will tap into the larger multiverse, including the return of Michael Keaton’s Batman.
During this year’s Super Bowl, Warner Bros. Pictures debuted a new The Flash movie trailer ahead of its summer release. At one point in The Flash Big Game spot, a shot of seven Batman suits can be seen. Chris Weston, who worked as a costume artist on The Flash, revealed more details about Keaton’s various Batman costumes.
One of the aspects Weston added was the homage to Batman ’66, as Adam West’s logo is spotted on one of the suits. Weston also confirmed that it was his idea to add holsters for the grappling guns and the golden-age ears on the Bat-cowl.
Everything We Know About Keaton’s Batman In The Flash Movie
Keaton’s Batman will be a major player in The Flash movie as Barry gets dragged into the multiverse. While Ben Affleck’s version of Batman will show up, Keaton will essentially “replace” him after Barry’s universe-traveling shenanigans happen. This will be the first time in 31 years that Keaton returns to the role after starring in Batman Returns. After Barry gets stuck in a world without the regular Justice League, Keaton’s Batman will be one of his supporting allies.
In many ways, Keaton’s Batman will fulfill the role that Thomas Wayne does in the original Flashpoint comic. Even though it’s not a direct Flashpoint adaptation, The Flash movie is taking obvious inspiration from it. With the reveal of Batman’s various suits, The Flash makes it clear that Bruce has gone on to have a long crime-fighting career. While not confirmed, there may be references to what this Batman has been up to since 1992.
While The Flash will reset the DC Universe, this movie will help the franchise to end on a huge note, with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom arriving later this year. Not only does Barry get his own solo movie, but the DCEU taps into nostalgia with Keaton’s Batman, who is still considered one of the best versions of the DC icon. With only a few months left, The Flash movie is looking to be one of the biggest superhero films of 2023.
