John Wick: Chapter 4’s runtime is reportedly revealed and it is massive, coming in as the longest chapter yet by a good amount of time.

As it proves to be his biggest chapter yet, the John Wick: Chapter 4 runtime has reportedly been revealed, and it is massive. The next installment in the franchise will see Keanu Reeves’ eponymous assassin rallying from his betrayal at the end of John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, now fueled by vengeance to take down the High Table. However, when Wick learns of a way to escape the High Table’s grasp for good, he will race against time to finally earn his freedom once again.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

With just over a month remaining until its arrival, Collider has seemingly revealed the John Wick: Chapter 4 runtime. The Reeves-led sequel is reportedly set to clock in at two hours and 49 minutes, which does include credits in its lengthy runtime. While Lionsgate has yet to announce the runtime themselves, should this prove to be true, John Wick: Chapter 4 would clock in as the longest in the franchise yet by nearly 20 minutes over its predecessor.

What The Longer Runtime Could Mean For John Wick 4

This isn’t the first time John Wick: Chapter 4 was suggested to have a very long runtime, with director Chad Stahelski having stated multiple times over the past year that it would be the longest in the franchise. However, he proved largely confident in audiences’ appreciation for the lengthy runtime, even admitting that after seeing it over 200 times across various edits, he remained hooked with each viewing. The reveal does indicate John Wick: Chapter 4 will be the biggest installment yet, though the question remains why Stahelski and writing duo Shay Hatten and Michael Finch are going for an expanded story.

Given the large roster of franchise newcomers appearing in John Wick: Chapter 4, a few of whom have yet to be seen in any of the marketing material, it would seem unfair to waste them with brief appearances. One of the more notable to be appearing is that of Bill Skarsgård’s The Marquis de Gramont, serving as the primary antagonist, who the star recently teased to have come from an “unknown origin” and is out to “rid the world of John Wick once and for all.” With John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum lacking any true antagonist in the vein of its predecessors, as Asia Kate Dillon’s The Adjudicator was more of a mild nuisance than proper foe, it will be enticing to see Reeves’ assassin pitted against multiple new enemies, while also giving them the runtime to be fleshed out.

Another major element John Wick: Chapter 4‘s runtime could benefit is Reeves’ familial ties to the High Table, as teased by Ian McShane’s Winston in the first trailer for the sequel. Wick’s backstory has been meted out across the previous films, though his family holding a spot on the High Table is an aspect not yet explored that would be hurt by a lack of proper explanation should this come to pass. Only time will tell how long the film proves to be leading up to John Wick: Chapter 4‘s March 24 release.
