A new John Wick: Chapter 4 BTS video reveals Keanu Reeves’ intense nunchucks and stunt car training for the film’s Arc de Triomphe sequence.
With each sequel having already raised the bar from its predecessor, a new John Wick: Chapter 4 behind-the-scenes video spotlights Keanu Reeves’ nunchucks and stunt car training. The latest installment in the Reeves-led action series will see the eponymous assassin facing off against High Table member, Bill Skarsgård’s Marquis de Gramont, in order to get his position and win back his freedom. Alongside Reeves and Skarsgård, John Wick: Chapter 4 will see new and returning faces, some of whom include Laurence Fishburne’s Bowery King, Ian McShane’s Winston, Donnie Yen and Hiroyuki Sanada, among others.
As anticipation grows for the long-awaited film, a new John Wick: Chapter 4 BTS video from IGN spotlights the action sequel’s hard-hitting action.
The video, released fresh off the John Wick: Chapter 4 final trailer and seen above at the 2:50 mark, gives a deeper look at the development of some of the film’s thrilling new set piece. In addition to his wielding nunchucks, the new BTS video also offers an exciting look at bringing back the muscle cars from the first two movies, including Reeves’ training behind the wheel for the sequel.
Should John Wick End After Chapter 4?
Though continuing to prove a guaranteed critical and commercial behemoth for Lionsgate, the John Wick franchise’s longevity has been a point of debate among viewers over the past few years. The marketing for John Wick: Chapter 4 has teased one of the biggest sequels for the franchise yet, seeing Reeves travel all around the globe and seemingly facing off against multiple members of the High Table directly. While raising the bar for anticipation on the threequel, it does raise the question of if future sequels’ action can match that of John Wick: Chapter 4.
Initial plans were for both John Wick: Chapter 4 and 5 to be shot back-to-back, only for them to be scrapped due to both the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and Reeves’ schedule on The Matrix Resurrections. Reeves, though initially interested in continuing the franchise should it remain successful, recently indicated the creatives behind the film were waiting to see how audiences respond before moving forward with John Wick 5. Considering John Wick: Chapter 4 was recently revealed to have a massive runtime of nearly three hours, it seems likely the threequel was produced on the franchise’s highest budget yet, marking a need for a strong box office run.
Outside of the financial bar set by the film is the creative room to work with after John Wick: Chapter 4. Should Reeves’ character finally succeed in his fight against the High Table, his ongoing motivation to get in the action does seem unclear at this point. However, with the universe finally expanding in Ballerina, there may be just enough room yet for Reeves to return following the March 24 release of John Wick: Chapter 4.
