Actor Jake Gyllenhaal gets muscled up and fights his former UFC co-star as videos surface of the filming for the upcoming Road House remake.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s muscular Road House transformation is revealed in a new video. Road House is based on the 1989 film of the same name, which follows the story of a bouncer (Patrick Swayze) hired at a rowdy bar. Road House also featured performances from Sam Elliot, Kelly Lynch, and Red West. After years of developing a remake, filming started with Gyllenhaal already showing a first impression by seemingly getting into his role as an ex-UFC fighter.

According to brand new Twitter videos from MMA Junkie and ESPN, Gyllenhaal physically transformed to play the Swayze stand-in. The videos were shot at a UFC event, where Gyllenhaal reportedly filmed a scene for the upcoming Road House remake.

Upon removing his shirt, Gyllenhaal reveals a six-pack and chiseled new look, blending in with the MMA fighters by his side.

Everything We Know About Gyllenhaal’s Road House Remake

Rumors of a Road House remake circulated for a while, which went as far back as 2013. In August 2022, this Road House iteration was finally confirmed, with Gyllenhaal in the lead.

In the early development of a Road House remake, Rob Cohen of The Fast and the Furious fame was set to direct, but now Gyllenhaal’s Road House will be helmed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, The Bourne Identity). In addition to Gyllenhaal, Road House will feature Billy Magnussen, Lukas Gage, and Joaquim de Almeida. Road House will also see the acting debut of UFC fighter Conor McGregor. Some footage was released showing the filming process, particularly showing Gyllenhaal and McGregor wet after shooting a scene.

The original Road House was not critically well-received during its release, which makes the remake somewhat surprising. Early reports from the Road House production, however, promise a revamped and exciting version as Gyllenhaal reported the Road House remake to be “so fun.” As the new videos indicate, Road House is still actively in production, so it may be while before the anticipated remake hits the big screen. Hopefully, the final product will live up to the promising expectation that early Road House reports have suggested.
