Mark Ruffalo Wants Hulk To Save Thor After Love & Thunder Disappointment

[ad_1]

Mark Ruffalo wants to return to the Thor series following the disappointing Thor: Love and Thunder. After the success of 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, Marvel Studios brought back director Taika Waititi to continue the God of Thunder’s personal narrative in the post-Infinity Saga Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, Thor: Love and Thunder didn’t meet expectations, failing to replicate Ragnarok’s success.

In his recent appearance at Emerald City Comic-Con 2023 (via The Direct), Ruffalo seemingly referenced Thor: Love & Thunder‘s disappointment while talking about wanting to team up with Chris Hemsworth again. It’s worth remembering that the God of Thunder and Hulk co-starred in Thor: Ragnarok, but they didn’t team up in Thor 4. Given this, Ruffalo is waiting for Marvel Studios to call him for another crossover, saying:

I have a soft spot for Chris Hemsworth. So, I keep waiting for them to invite me back to the Thor franchise to save it… That’s a joke… I’m canceled…

Will Hulk & Thor Team Up Again In The MCU?

Because of Thor: Ragnarok‘s success, Marvel Studios went bigger with Thor: Love and Thunder. The movie was ambitious as it featured not only the return of the Guardians of the Galaxy, but saw Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster in the MCU for the first time since Thor: The Dark World. There was so much excitement over the introduction of Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher, but he wasn’t given nearly enough time to really showcase his acting abilities. Between all these exciting characters and Waititi’s record with Thor: Ragnarok, there were high expectations for the film.

Considering what’s happening in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, it’s difficult to say when Hulk and Thor might meet again, although both are confirmed to continue playing a role in the franchise. Looking at Marvel Studios’ slate, it’s likely, however, that their reunion won’t happen until Destin Cretton’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty at the earliest. Functioning as a culminating film, it will see the Avengers go up against Kang the Conqueror.

As two of the only three remaining original Avengers in the MCU, there’s interest in seeing them share the screen again. On top of being teammates, they have developed a friendship during the last few years of the Infinity Saga despite competing for the “Strongest Avenger” title — something that was once again mentioned in Thor: Love and Thunder. Hopefully, Marvel Studios finds a way to reunite Thor and Hulk before the next big catastrophe in the universe takes place.
