SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Mully (Reid) has recently lost his mother and is trying to escape from his father when he steals an idling Taxi cab. As he drives away, he’s surprised to learn he’s not alone in the vehicle, and a woman and her baby are sitting in the backseat. It turns out that Joy (Colman) is on her way to visit a friend, to whom she plans to give her baby. The two undergo a wild race across Ireland as Mully flees his father, and Joy attempts to flee her responsibility. During their ride, Mully and Joy will find a friendship and love in each other that they didn’t know they needed. Screen Rant is excited to present this exclusive look at a scene from Joyride.

What To Expect From Joyride

This exclusive clip from Joyride presented by Screen Rant sets off the action as the story hits its stride. Meet Mully, a young boy struggling with the loss of his mother. When his father enlists Mully in a plan to steal charity money raised in his mother’s name, Mully makes a run for it. He weaves through city streets, with his father in hot pursuit, until he comes upon an idling taxi. Taking his opportunity, Mully jumps in the driver’s seat and speeds away from his father and the indignant taxi driver. Just as he thinks he’s gotten away cleanly, Mully discovers that he’s got passengers in the form of a sleeping woman and a crying baby.

The trailer for Joyride gives greater insight into the budding friendship between Mully and Joy. At first, it’s an adversarial relationship, with Joy manipulating Mully into accompanying her and the baby on their journey in exchange for her not pressing charge for his inadvertent kidnapping of the two. Together they make an epic journey across Ireland while dodging Mully’s father and the cops, and confronting some unhappy truths about themselves. They’ll form an unexpected connection at one of the darkest times of their lives, and find a friendship that just might lead them into the light.

Joyride is just one of the exciting titles to be released by Magnolia Pictures in 2023. French film Smoking Causes Coughing depicts the misadventures of a group of superheroes known as the Tobacco Force, and will be available from March 31. This May the Master Gardener features Joel Edgerton and Sigourney Weaver in a story about a horticulturist struggling to keep the dark secrets of his past from unraveling his simple and comfortable life. Later this year Rosy McEwen is forced to live a double life in Blue Jean as Margaret Thatcher’s 1980s Tory party forces through laws stigmatizing gays and lesbians.
