Chris Tucker Teases Rush Hour 4 Return Alongside Jackie Chan

Chris Tucker teases his Rush Hour 4 return alongside Jackie Chan. Featuring the unlikely pairing of the stand-up comedian and martial arts icon, the original Rush Hour trilogy was released from 1998 to 2007 to commercial success and mixed critical reception. After the film series went dormant for several years save for a short-lived TV show, Chan announced late last year that Rush Hour 4 was officially in the early stages of development.

Now, months after Chan announced Rush Hour 4 is in development, the other half of Rush Hour is weighing in on his potential return in the long-awaited sequel. Speaking to Audacy’s V-103 (via Variety) promoting his role in Air, Tucker said he is “definitely” down for Rush Hour 4 alongside Chan and teased his return alongside the acting icon. You’re going to see a lot of good stuff coming, but it’s going to be on a whole other level. That’s what I like…I’m excited about that. It’s not going to be what you’ve normally seen… Rush Hour 4, that’s something I definitely will probably drop in there because I love working with Jackie, but I’ve got some new stuff that I think you’re really gonna like. I’m excited about it.

Is Rush Hour 4 Finally Happening?

Rush Hour 4 has been in talks for several years starting way back in 2017 when Chan first revealed that another sequel was in the works. In 2018, Tucker corroborated his comments and began hyping up the fourth film as “the rush of all rushes.” However, Rush Hour 4 failed to get off the ground, despite Tucker saying it was close to coming together in 2019, it went dormant for several more years. It’s unclear if development was resumed or restarted when Rush Hour 4 was announced again by Chan last December.

One impediment potentially holding up the development of Rush Hour 4 is Brett Ratner, who directed all three movies, being accused of sexual assault and harassment by several actors, including Olivia Munn, Natasha Henstridge, and Elliot Page. Warner Bros. subsequently severed ties with Ratner, leading Rush Hour to find a new director for its fourth installment. With both lead stars now attached to Rush Hour 4, the long-awaited sequel appears to be finally coming together. However, it’s understandable if fans are cautiously optimistic considering Chan and Tucker’s comments have yet to lead to tangible results.
