Why A Third Frozen Movie Makes Sense

The Frozen franchise continues to maintain its popularity, as evidenced by the various live performances and attractions that exist throughout the country. Both movies broke box office records at the time of their release, with 2019’s Frozen II becoming the second highest-grossing animated film ever. The soundtracks from each installment also performed well, reaching number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. Certain songs, including “Love Is An Open Door,” “Let It Go,” and “Into the Unknown” were ranked on the US Billboard Hot 100 as well.

While the Frozen 3 announcement might have been a surprise, it is worth remembering that the eventual release of Frozen II happened six years after the original. There is still a lot the franchise can explore, including more about the history of Arendelle or the elemental powers shown in the last installment. When it comes to music though, Anderson-Lopez and Lopez’s track record suggests that the upcoming entry could feature other noteworthy hits.

It will be interesting to see what the songwriting couple comes up with for the third movie, and if they can repeat their past successes. Earning Academy Award nominations for both projects is an impressive feat, as is the reception of their work outside of those films. Not much is known about the story of Frozen 3, but given Anderson-Lopez’s comment about the excitement the duo has, it seems fans of the franchise will not have to worry.
