Screen Rant is pleased to present an exclusive first look at the trailer for Mercy, an action thriller arriving from Paramount. Coming to select theaters and digital on May 19, the film was produced by Mercy Road and Front Street Pictures. Tony Dean Smith (Disappearance in Yellowstone) directs from a screenplay by Alex Wright (Hope at Christmas).
Mercy follows an ex-military doctor (Leah Gibson, Jessica Jones) who is locked inside her hospital with members of the Iris mafia (portrayed by Heat star Jon Voight and The Tudors’ Jonathan Rhys-Meyers) while they seize control and turn her world into chaos. Desperate to save her son, who has been taken hostage, she must call upon her training and deadly skills in order to take matters into her own hands. Mercy also stars Sebastien Roberts, Anthony Konechny, Patrick Roccas, and Anthony Bolognese.

The trailer for Mercy, as shown above, begins on an ominous note. Rhys-Meyers’ interrupts his father Patrick (Voight) during a game of golf to inform him that his brother Ryan (Konechny) has been shot. Patrick immediately enters the hospital in search of his son, while Gibson’s Michelle tries to hide her son as she can tell something is amiss from the start. After learning that Ryan has been taken by the feds, the Irish mafia leap into action — as does Michelle to defend her son and her hospital.
Voight’s role in Mercy is sure to be of interest, as his career has led him to play some complex roles throughout his impressive filmography. He earned his first Oscar nomination as Joe Buck in the 1969 Best Picture winner Midnight Cowboy, and then won an Oscar a decade later for Coming Home. It will certainly be a treat to see his father-son chemistry with Rhys-Meyers, as well as to watch both men face off against Leah Gibson, who had a taste of action recently as The Whisper in Batwoman.
Mercy arrives in select theaters and on digital on May 19, and it will be available On Demand on June 2 from Paramount Pictures.
