An incredible fan-made lightsaber has been revealed online, continuing to prove the beauty of The High Republic era as a golden age for the Jedi Order in Star Wars. Set hundreds of years before the events of The Phantom Menace, Lucasfilm will soon release its first series set during the HIgh Republic with The Acolyte. However, the era was first introduced with a wave of impressive novels and comics, many of which featured the impressive exploits of Jedi Marshal Avar Kriss and her stunning lightsaber that’s now been impressively forged in real life.
Made by Twitter user @QnAProps, the ornate weapon of Jedi Marshal Avar Kriss has been faithfully replicated using both cover art and lightsaber reference books from Lucasfilm. Featuring a solid crossguard with golden overlays across the entirety of the hilt, Avar’s lightsaber perfectly matches her unique station as Marshal of Starlight Beacon, a large space station built by the Republic and Jedi Order to guide travelers through the new frontiers of the Outer Rim. Why The High Republic’s Lightsabers Are So Beautiful
Whether displayed through their lightsabers or their greater variety of dress, the robes and equipment of the High Republic’s Jedi Knights were far more elaborate and ornate than what’s seen in the prequels. Meant to be a testament to the longstanding years of prosperity they helped cultivate for the still-expanding Republic, the High Republic is an Arthurian-inspired age with more nobility. It’s also been established that the Jedi of this era had more freedom of expression as well, hence the greater intricacies and detail of their lightsabers.
It could be argued that Avar Kriss’ lightsaber isn’t even the most impressive lightsaber that’s been seen in the High Republic era. In terms of capability, Orla Jareni has a collapsible double-bladed lightsaber and Sskeer’s had a unique knuckle guard. Jedi Master Porter Engle wielded a smaller lightsaber not unlike a knife in tandem with a more traditional saber. Vernestra Rwoh will make her live-action debut in The Acolyte, and it stands to reason that she’ll have her purple-bladed lightsaber with its unique light whip feature.
Regardless of their various unique functions and modifications, the use of gold, silver, and intricate detailing is fairly consistent with High Republic lightsabers as well. It’s something QnAProps has replicated in their work extremely well. All in all, seeing some of these early Star Wars lightsabers come to life further proves just how visually beautiful The High Republic era is as it continues to be revealed with new projects.
