The prolific Nicolas Cage takes a ride with his twin sons in a just revealed first look image from his post-apocalyptic survival thriller Arcadian.
Nicolas Cage is a post-apocalyptic survivalist in a first-look image from the movie Arcadian. The prolific Cage is already off to a hot start in 2023, having recently starred in The Old Way, his first-ever Western. And later this year, the actor will take on one of movie history’s most iconic roles, playing Dracula in the highly-anticipated horror-comedy Renfield.
Aside from those two films plus the recently-teased Sympathy for the Devil, also lined up for Cage is a trip to the post-apocalypse in the movie Arcadian, which just dropped a first-look image (via THR).
Joining Cage in the image is his co-star Jaeden Martell, who previously starred in Knives Out and IT. Also appearing is Maxwell Jenkins, who starred in the Netflix Lost in Space series.
Everything We Know About Arcadian
In a story that sounds definite echoes of A Quiet Place, Arcadian (previously titled Sand and Stones) concerns a man named Paul (Cage) eking out a precarious living in a depopulated post-apocalyptic world with his twin sons Joseph (Martell) and Thomas (Jenkins), until a threat arrives that forces them into a desperate battle for their very survival. Joining Cage and the two boys in the cast of Arcadian is Sadie Soverall (Fate: The Winx Saga).
Behind the camera, Arcadian is helmed by Benjamin Brewer, who previously directed Cage in the movie The Trust, and is also renowned as the lead VFX artist for Everything Everywhere All At Once. The script comes from Michael Nilon, who previously penned the Jason Momoa film Braven, and has produced numerous Cage films including 2022’s highly-regarded The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent.
Arcadian certainly does not sound like the kind of Cage film that will afford him the opportunity to go “full Cage,” but it does give him another chance to play a father, something he’s done in a lot of his recent movies, including this year’s The Old Way. It remains to be seen whether this fatherly trend continues for Cage, but for now, he seems quite interested in exploring paternal characters forced to deal with dangerous situations and keep their kids safe. Arcadian does not yet have distribution home or a release date.
