Actor Tom Sizemore has been hospitalized after suffering a brain aneurysm. Sizemore put together a solid Hollywood career in the early 1990s by taking on tough guy roles in dramas and action movies, such as Point Break and True Romance. However, he is probably best known for his work in war movies in the late 1990s and early 2000s, including Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan, as well as Black Hawk Down and Pearl Harbor, both of which came out in 2001.

The actor’s representatives confirm Sizemore has suffered a brain aneurysm that has left the 61-year-old in critical condition at the hospital, per Variety. According to additional reports, Sizemore was found at his home in Los Angeles around 2 a.m. before being quickly transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment. His spokesperson also said that Sizemore’s family is aware of his current status and are now waiting for updates on what has been characterized as a “wait and see situation.”

What Has Tom Sizemore Been Doing Lately?

It was Sizemore—who was recently part of David Lynch’s 2017 Twin Peaks revival—who delivered the inspirational titular line in Saving Private Ryan, and while that may have been his shining moment on the big screen, he has stayed plenty busy in the years since. Sizemore has held recurring roles in TV series such as Hawaii Five-0 and Shooter, and was also nominated for a Golden Globe back in 2000 for his work in the TV film Witness Protection.

Sizemore has added numerous credits in both film and TV to his filmography despite dealing with legal issues related to domestic violence and drug possession. His most recent brush with the law came in 2019 when Sizemore was booked for possessing “various illegal narcotics”. The actor has been open about his struggles with addiction, which he has said go back to the young age of 15. He spoke about his issues with cocaine, meth, and heroin during a 2010 interview with Larry King and also participated in Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew during that same year. Sizemore was also convicted for domestic violence in 2017.

Most recently, Sizemore managed to secure himself a starring role as Doctor Tom on the Tubi TV comedy Barbee Rehab in 2022, and he also has two more film projects in development, The Getter and Made Vicious. Sizemore has been one of the busiest actors since the Covid-19 pandemic hit, racking up seven film credits in 2020, eight more in 2021 and another 10 last year, including a role in the female revenge thriller The Legend Of Jack And Diane. Expect more updates regarding Sizemore‘s condition to emerge soon.
