The multimedia franchise becomes one of the most popular in history, earning over $34.4 billion in total revenue.

What’s Next In The Wizarding World
The Harry Potter film series concluded in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -Part Two, an entry that saw the defeat of Voldemort. However, the franchise continued in several ways beyond the main storyline, including the spinoff Fantastic Beasts movies. With five installments planned, Warner Bros. Pictures has released only three. After Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore failed to perform to the studio’s expectations, the series has been put on hold indefinitely.
Franchise alum Chris Columbus stated that he believes the only way the Wizarding World can continue is through a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child film. Several original film stars have shown interest in reprising their roles for the potential adaptation, with Lucius Malfoy’s Tom Felton stating that he would jump at the opportunity. However, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson are more hesitant to return to the franchise that made them household names.
It was recently announced that a complete Harry Potter reboot is officially in the works at Warner Bros. The television series will cover the entire book series, adapting each novel as a season for HBO. On the heels of the news, a portion of the fan base took to social media to denounce the reboot and criticize Warner Bros. for including J. K. Rowling in the project following her controversial transgender comments. The developing Harry Potter series is expected to follow a 10-year plan, with promises to be more faithful to the book material.
