Almost two years since the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Ben Affleck opens up about his and the filmmaker’s redemption from the 2017 film. It’s no secret that production for the theatrical release of Justice League was mired with issues. Between behind-the-scenes drama and a last-minute director switch, it’s no wonder Affleck didn’t have the best things to say about his experience.

Luckily for the actor, Affleck was able to redeem himself as Batman in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Speaking with THR, he candidly talks about the whole process, from filming the theatrical version to learning about the HBO Max project that allowed the filmmaker to release his full version of the story. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Justice League … You could teach a seminar on all the reasons why this is how not to do it. Ranging from production to bad decisions to horrible personal tragedy, and just ending with the most monstrous taste in my mouth. The genius, and the silver lining, is that Zack Snyder eventually went to AT&T and was like, “Look, I can get you four hours of content.” And it’s principally just all the slow motion that he shot in black-and-white. And one day of shooting with me and him. He was like, “Do you want to come shoot in my backyard?” I was like, “I think there are unions, Zack. I think we have to make a deal.” But I went and did it. And now [Zack Snyder’s Justice League] is my highest-rated movie on IMDb.

Can Affleck’s Batman Still Return To The New DC Universe

Affleck’s future as Batman in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe is currently uncertain. He is confirmed to appear in Andy Muschietti’s The Flash alongside Ezra Miller’s Scarlet Speedster and Michael Keaton’s Batman. However, Gunn said The Flash movie will “reset” the franchise, which means it might serve as the launching pad for what comes next in the universe.

In terms of the so-called SnyderVerse, petitions for it to continue elsewhere are still going. Amid this, Snyder recently dropped a teaser for an upcoming Justice League-related event. Specific details about it are still uncertain at this point, but it’s more than enough to get his fans excited about the idea. It’s curious if Affleck is somehow involved in the matter, but the fact that he has a good relationship with Affleck means it won’t be difficult to recruit him if the filmmaker asks him to partake in it.

It’s no secret there was initial backlash over Affleck’s casting as Batman. In the brief stint that he inhabited the role, however, he effectively proved he could do the role justice. Despite all the failures and disappointments in the early years of the franchise, at least he feels like he’s had his redemption in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
