A brand-new Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey trailer teases more brutal slayings by Pooh Bear and Piglet as Christopher Robin comes home.
A new Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey trailer shows more brutal kills from the beloved childhood bear. The upcoming horror film is a haunting spin on A.A. Milne’s series of classic children’s books. The movie is slated to screen in theaters for one night only on February 15, making it the first theatrically released Winnie The Pooh project since 2018’s Christopher Robin, which featured Star Wars prequels and Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor in the titular role. The new film is being made by Jagged Edge Productions, a company behind 47 different low-budget horror flicks that have either released or entered production, many of them based on familiar yet unexpected characters.
Dread Central has shared a new official Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey trailer. In addition to Pooh Bear (Craig David Dowsett) committing a spree of horrifically brutal slayings, the short trailer shows a young adult Christopher Robin (Nikolai Leon) walking through the woods with his wife, mourning the death of the sad but lovable donkey Eeyore, and examining an ominous honeypot. The trailer ends with rapidly cut shots of Pooh murdering college students, taking some presumably innocent people captive, and looking terrifyingly evil. Can Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey Deliver On The Hype?
The premise of the Rhys Frake-Waterfield-directed film is that Christopher Robin, Pooh’s human companion, stopped visiting the Hundred Acre Wood after he grew up and went off to college. As a result of his neglect, Pooh and his best friend Piglet turned feral, killing and eating Eeyore in the process. In the film, an adult Christopher returns to his childhood home with his new wife, where his old pals are in the midst of a murderous rampage against nearby college girls. Previous Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey trailers have highlighted even more of the chaotic violence in the film, garnering a great deal of attention from fans of the classic Winnie The Pooh stories.
Though it seems nearly impossible for this adaptation of Winnie The Pooh to meet its high expectations, it’s hard to deny that seeing the characters turn evil has the potential to be a lot of fun. The hype surrounding this film has taken on a life of its own thanks to its bizarre concept and lack of restraint in turning the family-friendly property on its head. For many fans who remember Pooh Bear and his friends from their childhoods, the premise of the horror film adaptation is a ruthlessly intriguing one. It hasn’t managed to grip everyone, though, with some fans of A.A. Milne’s source material disapproving of how it’s being treated now that Winnie The Pooh is public domain and available for filmmakers to put their own spin on.
For a movie made on such a relatively low budget, the endeavor seems like a sure-fire win for the creators and the studio. The film managed to parlay its marketing campaign into a one-night theatrical release. If nothing else, the movie theater experience should be filled with plenty of laughter and loud reactions. Fathom Events, the company responsible for the movie’s distribution, will host screenings in U.S. theaters. Altitude, Cineplex, and Cinemex will handle releases in the U.K., Canada, and Mexico.
