Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi is the latest DCU fan cast in Batman art that sees the star donning the hero’s iconic mask and suit in Gotham City.
Recent fan art imagines Euphoria star Jacob Elordi as Batman in the DC Universe. Since James Gunn and Peter Safran were named co-chairs of DC Studios back in November, anticipation has been increasing surrounding future content and the direction of the DCU. Elordi, known for his role as Nate Jacobs in HBO’s Euphoria, had previously been fan-cast as Superman after Gunn revealed that the next iteration would focus on a younger version of the hero. As rumors began circulating, though, Gunn eventually shared that no one has been considered for the part yet.
There continue to be campaigns for Elordi’s involvement in the DCU, and with the possibility the franchise could introduce another Batman at some point, the actor’s name has been coming up again. In a recent Instagram post, artist clements.ink depicts Elordi as Batman.
The image offers an idea of what Elordi could look like as the masked hero, showing him wearing the suit while standing in front of Gotham City and numerous police cars.
Will The DCU Cast Another Batman?
Gunn has already said that Batman will have a large role in the DCU, and while the hero is currently played by Robert Pattinson, the rebooted universe will likely feature another version of the character as well. Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman proved successful in terms of box office performance and critical reception, renewing excitement in the character. Multiple depictions of the superhero occurring simultaneously are not uncommon, increasing the likelihood another Batman will be cast at some point.
Of course, a shared universe of its own was created by the release of Reeves’ film last year, with a Penguin spinoff series and Arkham project, among others, being developed for HBO Max. With a sequel to The Batman having been planned as well, it will be interesting to see if this upcoming content ties into Gunn and Safran’s new DCU, or if it will continue to exist separately. Reeves previously revealed that he would be meeting with the co-chairs of DC Studios to discuss their ideas.
Coming off of three Oscar nominations, and with so much support behind Pattinson’s performance, it makes sense that DC Studios will continue exploring the world of The Batman. If another version of Bruce Wayne is introduced, it is worth wondering if the direction of his story will be similar to that of Clark Kent/Superman. If the DCU were to depict a younger version of both heroes, there will surely be a lot more fan casts, in addition to Elordi. With plenty of excitement surrounding Gunn and Safran’s plans and how Batman will be included in the future of the DCU, hopefully, more information will be revealed soon.
