Following the release of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, one fan has noticed Benoit Blanc creeping into Daniel Craig’s previous Bond performance. Director Rian Johnson followed up his highly successful 2019 release Knives Out with a brand new star-studded whodunnit. Glass Onion serves as the second installment in Johnson’s budding new franchise, which sees world-renowned detective Benoit Blanc called to solve some rather puzzling murder mysteries. This latest installment saw Craig mix with the likes of Kate Hudson, Edward Norton, Janelle MonĂ¡e, Kathryn Hahn, Dave Bautista, Leslie Odom Jr, Madelyn Cline, and Jessica Henwick.

Craig’s performance as Benoit Blanc can be immediately distinguished from any of his other characters thanks to his southern accent and animated hand gestures. However, Twitter user @DanJamesFrank has noticed a particular scene in No Time To Die, in which the lines between Bond and Blanc become almost a little blurred. The scene sees Bond questioning Christoph Waltz’s Blofeld, during which some of Benoit’s accent and characteristics appear to creep through. Check out the clip below.

Why Playing Benoit Blanc Is The Perfect Next Phase Of Daniel Craig’s Career

Craig’s time as Bond came to a dramatic yet satisfying conclusion in No Time To Die, with the 2021 project serving as his fifth and final appearance as the iconic 007. Despite having expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to make the role of James Bond his own, it was abundantly clear for some time that Craig was ready for his time at MI6 to draw to a close. With Benoit Blanc offering some major differences to Bond as a character, many have felt that Craig is now stepping into a new era in which he is able to have more fun with the role, something that his Glass Onion co-star Bautista also noted.

With Johnson set to begin piecing together the story of Knives Out 3 soon, Craig has at least one more confirmed appearance as Benoit Blanc lined up as Johnson looks to fulfill his initial Netflix deal. However, both Craig and Johnson have stated that they are both in it for the long run with the Knives Out franchise, with Craig having enthusiastically shared that he will continue to play Benoit Blanc for as long as Johnson continues writing these films. This, coupled with the enormous success of both Knives Out and Glass Onion could signal a bright future ahead for Craig as he now sheds one iconic character for what looks to be his next.

Given that No Time To Die was sandwiched between Knives Out and Glass Onion in Craig’s filming schedule, it’s certainly understandable that remnants of such a strong accent may have remained, particularly when the line readings are also somewhat reminiscent of one another. Craig previously recalled how he struggled to recall his Benoit Blanc accent prior to returning to the Glass Onion set, prompting him to work with an accent coach to bring it back. However, while Craig may have felt this was the case, it seems Benoit Blanc may have actually been in there all along.
