Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn and Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker are physically bonded in a new gorgeous painting-like fan art for Joker: Folie à Deux.
A new stunning fan poster for Joker: Folie à Deux presents Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn & Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker as one, through a painting that teases the duo’s trauma in the movie. Joker premiered in theaters in 2019 to critical and audience acclaim, which led the movie to become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, with just over $1 billion. Phoenix also went on to win the Academy Award for Best Actor. Because of the DC movie’s incredible feats, Joker: Folie à Deux adds Gaga as Joker’s comic book partner/enemy Harley Quinn for a full-on musical-themed movie.
Artist SPDRMNKYXXIII shared on Instagram a melancholic fan poster for Joker: Folie à Deux, with Joker and Harley Quinn bonded together as their face painting melts.
Gaga’s casting as Harley Quinn was a huge announcement that started to make even more sense with the reveal that Joker: Folie à Deux is a musical in the vein of hit movie remake A Star is Born, which also starred Gaga, alongside Bradley Cooper. Gaga was nominated in the Academy Awards for Best Actress and took home the Best Song award for the movie, making it clear why the Joker sequel went after the singer/actress.
What To Expect From Joker Folie À Deux
The news that Joker: Folie à Deux would be a musical was surprising since there are no superhero movies that have gone that route on the big screen. Even though the change in genre and tone was unexpected, Joker did have some hints that a musical might work for the sequel. Joker‘s bathroom dancing scene delivers Phoenix’s vulnerable acting as Arthur Fleck moving to the sound of Hildur Guðnadóttir’s hauntingly beautiful score. The scene represented the moment Arthur first transformed into his confident Joker self. The same composer is returning for the sequel’s musical theme.
A report on Joker: Folie à Deux‘s status has revealed that the DC movie will include complicated musical sequences, which means the crew behind the movie is expanding on the important dance moment from Joker and going all out with the musical approach. Successful musicals, such as La La Land, are known for incorporating visually incredible dance scenes that escape reality, something Joker: Folie à Deux’s story should include, given its setting. Joker ended with Arthur running around Arkham Asylum, where he will be imprisoned for part or all of Joker: Folie à Deux.
How Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn Can Differ From Margot Robbie’s
Gaga’s Harley Quinn persona will likely not appear at first, with the character possibly spending the majority of the movie as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, the Arkham Asylum psychiatrist in charge of Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck. A Joker: Folie à Deux teaser hints at the possibility of Gaga’s character developing a bond with Arthur, as she treats him throughout the movie, slowly becoming outlandish before transforming into Harley Quinn and escaping with Arthur. This could explain why Margot Robbie isn’t Harley Quinn in the movie, with the actor’s version already the fully realized villain and rooted in the over-the-top antics of DC Comics, while Joker: Folie à Deux should continue the original’s realism, albeit with a musical flair.
