IPL 2023: Cricket fraternity and Bollywood stars react as KL Rahul undergoes successful thigh surgery


Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) opener KL Rahul has undergone successful thigh surgery after sustaining an injury in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Notably, the LSG skipper got injured in a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) earlier this month and was immediately taken off the field.

A few days after the injury and consultations with the doctors, the 31-year-old wicketkeeper-batter decided to undergo treatment and pulled himself out of the remainder of IPL and also the World Test Championship (WTC) Final.

On Tuesday (May 9), Rahul took to his Instagram and informed his well-wishers about his successful treatment. The right-handed batter started by thanking the medical team and further expressed his desire to get back to the field as soon as possible.

“Hi everyone, I just got done with my surgery – it was successful. A big thank you to the doctors and medical staff for making sure I was comfortable and everything went smoothly. I’m officially on the road to recovery now. I’m determined to get back to my best and get back on the field. Onwards and upwards!” wrote Rahul in on his Instagram.

Many popular Bollywood celebrities and fellow cricketers commented on Rahul’s post and wished him a speedy recovery. The movie stars who reacted to Rahul’s post included the likes of Diana Penty and Suniel Shetty. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan and Ravi Bishnoi were notable names from the cricketing world to comment on the LSG batter’s post.

On the other hand, social media influencers Zakir Khan and Ranveer Allahbadia also dropped some heart emojis under Rahul’s picture.

Speaking of Rahul’s replacement in the IPL and the Indian cricket team, Krunal Pandya is captaining the Lucknow-based franchise in his absence, whereas Ishan Kishan replaced him in the WTC final squad of the Indian side.
