The official No Hard Feelings trailer reveals Jennifer Lawrence’s new pitch-black edgy comedy. The film, which sees the star embracing her bad side, will follow her down-on-her-luck character Maddie as she agrees to pretend to date a 19-year-old to boost his self esteem before he heads off to college. The film, which hits theaters on June 23, also stars Andrew Barth Feldman, Natalie Morales, and Matthew Broderick.

Today, Sony Pictures Entertainment released the official trailer for No Hard Feelings, giving the first official look at the mayhem that is to come.

The trailer reveals that the film is a raunchy comedy in the vein of something like Bad Teacher or Bad Moms. However, there is a coming-of-age-a-little-late element that was also present in Diablo Cody’s Young Adult, combining its absurd and filthy comedy with a more in-depth character study.

This Isn’t the First Time That Jennifer Lawrence Has Shed Her Good Girl Image

Jennifer Lawrence is best known for her role as the heroine Katniss Everdeen in the dystopian young adult franchise The Hunger Games. This role and the media that surrounded it painted her as something of an America’s Sweetheart type. However, she has long tried to shed that image, returning to the more layered and dark roles that began her career like her Oscar-nominated turn in the Ozark-set drama Winter’s Bone.

After she was finished playing Katniss and nearly through playing Mystique in the X-Men franchise, Lawrence turned to much darker material. This includes the Darren Aronofsky film mother!, where she plays a psychologically brittle young woman attempting to deal with strangers in her home. She followed that up by playing a deadly spy opposite Joel Edgerton in the steamy thriller Red Sparrow and a traumatized veteran in last year’s Causeway.

While she has worked hard to shed the good girl image she had unwittingly earned, No Hard Feelings

is a brand new genre for her. This is the first time the star has appeared in a raunchy comedy of this caliber. In fact, it’s also the first time she’s appeared in a comedy film that wasn’t primarily a drama like 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook or 2022’s Don’t Look Up.
