Vin Diesel drops a new update on Riddick 4: Furya while celebrating the trilogy’s impressive viewership numbers on Netflix. After first playing the character back in 2000 in Pitch Black, Diesel would return for two sequels, including The Chronicles of Riddick in 2004 and Riddick in 2013. Now, after years of uncertainty, the actor is gearing up to reprise the role for a fourth film.
In a recent post on Instagram, Diesel reveals that he’s had some positive Riddick 4: Furya development meetings recently, in addition to sharing that the original three films are currently some of the most-watched titles on Netflix. Check out Diesel’s post below:
The comments on Diesel’s post are all very enthusiastic, with followers expressing excitement to see the Riddick franchise continue. Thankfully, new details have recently come to light regarding the long-awaited sequel.
What To Expect From Riddick 4: Furya
Riddick 4: Furya reunites Diesel with long-time franchise director David Twohy, who is also writing the script. As the movie’s title would suggest, the upcoming sequel will deal extensively with Furya, Riddick’s home world. It was reported last month that the sequel will see Riddick return to Furya where he discovers Furyans not unlike himself fighting for survival against a dangerous new enemy.
Unfortunately, it’s not yet clear who will star opposite Diesel in Riddick 4: Furya. Previous films have included the likes of Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista, and Karl Urban, and it’s likely that the upcoming sequel will feature several new characters for Riddick to team up with or fight against. It’s also possible that Riddick 4: Furya will feature the return of a character or two from Riddick’s past.
Filming on Riddick 4: Furya is expected to start later this year, meaning a release date is probably still quite a ways off. Should filming commence this year, it’s possible that audiences can expect to see the sequel hit theaters in either 2024 or 2025. It’s unclear whether Diesel’s commitments to finishing up the Fast & Furious franchise will have any effect on Riddick 4: Furya‘s filming.
