Rise of the Beasts Star Brings Brooklyn To The Autobots

[ad_1]

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts star Dominique Fishback is excited to bring her Brooklyn upbringing to bear in the upcoming film. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is the seventh movie based on Hasbro’s popular toy line, but may technically be considered the second film in a new story; it is the first Transformers film to be released since 2018’s Bumblebee was declared to be a reboot. Nevertheless, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts looks set to deliver the same style of exciting action sequences and thrills that have brought audiences to the theater for over a decade.

The new film is introducing a number of new elements and players, not least of which are two new leads in Anthony Ramos (Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton) and Dominque Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah). Unlike previous Transformers films, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be set in Brooklyn, which makes the casting of Ramos and Fishback – both Brooklyn natives – an especially fitting choice. Fishback herself commented on the matter while speaking with Screen Rant about her work on Swarm:

I’m excited because my character is from Brooklyn, and I’m from Brooklyn, and Anthony [Ramos is] from Brooklyn. We never had that Brooklyn juice meet the Autobots. I think that’s kind of fire, and it’s going to be interesting to watch.

What Makes Transformers: Rise of the Beasts A New Experience For The Franchise

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts marks a major new step for the Transformers franchise in a way that is evident in the title; this film is going to bring characters from the animated series Beast Wars: Transformers into live-action for the first time. First aired in 1996, Beast Wars: Transformers was one of the first ever fully CGI television shows, and ran for three seasons before spinning off into a sequel series titled Beast Machines. In borrowing from Beast Wars, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has the opportunity to introduce beloved series characters to live-action audiences while simultaneously paying homage to a delightfully weird and memorable era of Transformers history.

It’s unclear exactly how many characters from Beast Wars: Transformers will make their way into Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Optimus Primal, Cheetor, Rhinox, and Airazor – all Maximals from the Beast Wars series – have all been spotted in marketing for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. While the main antagonist of Beast Wars: Transformers was Megatron in the form of a Tyrannosaurus rex, it’s unclear if that take on the character will appear, especially as a T-rex was featured in Transformers: Age of Extinction. With Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is in reboot territory, the live-action debut of Beast Wars’ primary villain may yet be in the cards.
