Scream 6 Trailer Potential Release Date Teased By Ghostface

The Ghostface killer takes to Twitter to hint at a potential Scream 6 trailer release date on a Friday the 13th-themed BeReal post ahead of March.

The Scream 6 trailer could be coming very soon, according to a tease from Ghostface on Twitter. The film is a direct follow-up to Scream 2022 and the sixth overall film in the overall franchise, which began in 1996 with the original hit film, also titled Scream. The film will take place in New York City and follow the survivors of the previous film, with the exception of Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, which includes sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter and twins Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin. A Scream 6 teaser was released on December 14, but the minute-long clip just shows a brief glimpse at one scene of the movie.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

On Friday the 13th, the official Scream Twitter account celebrated the occasion by posting a BeReal photo of some of the cast and crew of Scream VI, including recent Golden Globe nominee Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera, at what appears to be a set dressed like a bodega.

Ghostface’s caption included the phrase “Clean up on aisle 1 and 19,” which prompted a fan to inquire if this meant that the trailer would be released on January 19. Ghostface’s potentially telling response to this way to say “What are you a detective? I don’t like detectives,” leading some to think the Scream 6 trailer could be releasing this month.

What the Scream VI Trailer Could Reveal

So far, all that has been revealed in the official teaser is the fact that at least one suspense scene will take place in a crowded subway during Halloween. That clip also offered a glimpse at the new character played by She-Hulk star Josh Segarra, in addition to the return of the core cast of Ortega, Barrera, Mason Gooding, and Jasmine Savoy Brown. It can be presumed that the bulk of the new cast will be revealed at least in brief glimpses in the official trailer when it comes, a roster that includes Dermot Mulroney, Henry Czerny, Samara Weaving, Tony Revolori, Jack Champion, Devyn Nekoda, and Liana Liberato.

However, the first trailer will likely want to keep some tricks up its sleeve to save for the second trailer, which will come out even closer to Scream 6‘s release date on March 10. Most likely, they will save the first look at the return of Hayden Panettiere as Scream 4‘s Kirby Reed for that trailer. This leaves just one other officially confirmed returning character: Courteney Cox’s Gale Weathers. Considering the fact that fans already saw her return in the previous four sequels, this is less of a surprise to hold close to the chest, so she will most likely appear in the first trailer for fans to see where Gale’s life has gone since the tragic events of the previous year.

The official Scream 6 trailer will also most likely offer a little more insight into the basic shape of the plot of the new film. This could potentially include the reason why the characters have migrated from Woodsboro, California to New York City. A previous poster for the film has intimated that the film may copy Scream 2‘s college setting, which could mean that some or all of the characters have moved for that reason, on top of wanting to be away from the site of their friends’ deaths.
