Now that Scream 6 is a bona fide hit, fans are eagerly casting who they want to be the killer in Scream 7. Every Scream film features a new killer who takes on the mantle of Ghostface, whose M.O. includes wearing a black cloak and rubber mask while taunting victims over the phone using a voice changer. This provides each sequel with the same iconic villain despite the fact that each Scream entry is also a whodunit with its killer or killers eventually being revealed to be part of the new ensemble of characters surrounding the previous film’s survivors.
Following the ending of Scream 6, which left quite a few of Scream 2022’s core characters still alive, fans are eager for Scream 7. Although the film hasn’t been officially greenlit yet, they are sharing their top choices for who should be Ghostface next time around. Their choices have spanned a wide range that somehow includes both Jennifer Coolidge and Prince Harry, as well as many others. Check out select fans sharing their Ghostface casting choices below:
Is Scream 7 Going to Happen?
Some of these fancasts would be quite good choices for a potential Ghostface killer. However, in order for the surviving Scream 6 cast to have a new killer to unmask, there needs to be a Scream 7. While it hasn’t been officially announced, it seems almost inevitable that the sequel will get the green light.
For one thing, Scream 6 was a substantial hit at the box office. The film just rushed past $100 million at the domestic box office, becoming the first film since 1997’s Scream 2 to do so. It has also already outgrossed its predecessor Scream 2022 by over $15 million worldwide. However, considering the fact that the film cost $10 million more, it’s possible that they are waiting to see how the final gross shakes out at the end of the film’s theatrical run.
Nevertheless, it is more than likely that Scream 7 is a hot topic behind closed doors at Spyglass and Paramount. It could very well be the case that the announcement is coming this week once the news flurry around Star Wars Celebration begins to die down. However, if they are taking their time to make sure returning cast contracts are locked down, that may account for further delays in the announcement.
