Shazam 2 Post-Credits Scene’s Cut Justice Society Characters Revealed

[ad_1]

Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Zachary Levi reveals which Justice Society characters were cut from the movie’s post-credits scene. After the sequel to Shazam! arrived in theaters, it was revealed the movie’s first post-credits scene, which saw characters from James Gunn’s Peacemaker series recruit Levi’s Shazam into the Justice Society, was altered. This was due to Dwayne Johnson blocking Black Adam movie characters from appearing in the Shazam! Fury of the Gods post-credits scene. Now, Levi reveals which JSA members were originally set for the scene.

On an Instagram Live (via Home of DCU), Levi revealed that Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman and Quintessa Swindell’s Cyclone were originally going to appear in Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

Levi’s reveal of Shazam! Fury of the Gods‘ cut Justice Society characters comes after Levi responded to the fact that Johnson blocked a Shazam cameo in Black Adam, as well as not allowing characters from his movie’s Justice Society to appear in the Shazam! sequel. In a previous post, Levi addressed the recent The Wrap report of Johnson’s Shazam veto, by confirming the news — saying “the truth shall set you free.”

Can The Justice Society & Shazam Continue In The New DC Universe?

New DC Studios co-CEOs Gunn and Peter Safran are charting the future of DC, and in doing so, are going to soft reboot the DC Universe. Some actors and characters from the old DCEU will continue in the new DC Universe, and those already revealed mean good things might be in store for Shazam and the Justice Society’s futures. Shazam! Fury of the Gods‘ first post-credits scene featured Jennifer Holland’s Emilia Harcourt and Steve Agee’s John Economos recruiting Shazam for the Justice Society.

The two Peacemaker characters were acting on orders from their boss, Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller. During the announcement of the 10 first projects in the new DC Universe, it was revealed that characters from Peacemaker, including Amanda Waller, were going to continue at DC. By having three characters who are known to be continuing at the new DC Universe connected to the Justice Society and Shazam in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, there is a chance the heroes might have a DC future after all. The fact that DC Studios co-CEO Safran is a producer on the movie also helps.

What does not help is Shazam! Fury of the Gods is severely underperforming at the box office, with the sequel failing to come near the first Shazam!‘s numbers, which weren’t even quite high in the first place. Gunn has said in the past that due to Shazam!‘s more closed-off nature than other DC films, it would not be hard to integrate the franchise into the new DC Universe. However, the lack of audience interest shown in Shazam! Fury of the Gods should dampen those chances, while Johnson’s behind-the-scenes drama could spell doom for Black Adam‘s take on the Justice Society.
