Teen Wolf: The Movie gets reimagined with a fun TikTok that focuses on Dylan O’Brien returning as the fan-favorite Stiles Stilinski.
A fan-made Teen Wolf: The Movie TikTok imagines Dylan O’Brien’s Stiles Stilinski returning to the franchise. Although many cast members from the original Teen Wolf series will appear for the upcoming Paramount+ film, including Tyler Posey as Scott McCall, O’Brien has confirmed that he’s not involved in the project. The news came as a bit of sad news for fans, given how O’Brien’s breakout performance was central to the success of the MTV supernatural drama and how important the friendship between Stiles and Scott is to the story.
TikTok user Fati Mamolar attempts to remedy O’Brien’s absence by creating a scene where Stiles returns for Teen Wolf: The Movie, which premieres January 26 on Paramount+. The clip uses a scene from O’Brien’s psychological thriller Flashback, which partly deals with the mystery of a missing girl, and then mixes in audio of a stunned Scott calling Stiles on the phone to tell him that Allison is alive. The video, which can be viewed below, is accompanied by the t.A.T.u. song “All the Things She Said” to match the shocking and disorienting news:
Why Dylan O’Brien Isn’t Returning For Teen Wolf Movie Explained
O’Brien has explained that a lot went into his decision not to return as Stiles for Teen Wolf: The Movie. The actor mentioned that he did try to come back as Stiles in some way, but seemed to suggest the project’s announcement and the speed with which it developed caught him and others by surprise. O’Brien said he didn’t know that the Paramount+ follow-up film would be happening, which led to a period of figuring out how a return could potentially work.
Ultimately, despite the difficulty of the decision, O’Brien felt that he ended his run on Teen Wolf in a good place and that he wanted to leave it there. But he stressed that he loved the show and many of the people working on it, noting that he’ll be watching the movie when it comes out and that he hopes that it “kicks ass.” In the meantime, O’Brien has a few upcoming projects in the works — including the queer sex worker drama Ponyboi.
How Teen Wolf Movie Will Address Stiles’ Absence
In his remarks about O’Brien not reprising his role, screenwriter Jeff Davis explained that Teen Wolf: The Movie will explain what happened to Stiles and Lydia, who were in a relationship the last time viewers saw them. Davis, who is also the creator of the MTV show, has said that there will be references and mentions of Stiles and that he’ll be “ever-present.” Some fans have taken that to mean Stiles’s absence will be key to the plot, but those specifics will be revealed when Teen Wolf: The Movie makes its debut.
