An incredible Star Wars cosplay brings an obscure character to life and feels refreshing compared to standard cosplays. Most fans tend to replicate the more well-known Star Wars characters like Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, etc. While these cosplays are fantastic, artists deserve praise for stepping outside the norm and bringing more obscure characters to life. One such example is a cosplay for a character that only appeared briefly in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Karrver Studio – which specializes in “Creature FX and Fabrication” – took to Instagram to share their cosplay of Albrekh, the Symeong metalsmith who fixed Kylo Ren’s mask in The Rise of Skywalker.
The attention to detail is astounding, as is their decision to make “a character nobody asked for or remembers!!!” Several comments praise the texture on the face and express appreciation for cosplaying an obscure character.
Star Wars Is Gradually Exploring Palpatine’s Sith Eternal
Despite the mixed response to Palpatine’s return in The Rise of Skywalker, new Star Wars stories have slowly explored the Sith Eternal in greater detail. The Rise of Skywalker‘s biggest problem wasn’t necessarily the ideas it presented, but rather that it tried to introduce too much at the last minute. Palpatine and his Sith Eternal are fascinating concepts on paper, which Star Wars has proven through the books and comics. The 2020 Darth Vader comic by Greg Pak revealed what Palpatine was doing on Exegol during the original trilogy, and Star Wars: Shadow of the Sith by Adam Christopher focused on Rey’s parents in the years before the sequel trilogy.
Karrver Studio’s Albrekh cosplay demonstrates the amount of creativity that was on display in The Rise of Skywalker, even if its various elements didn’t come together perfectly. Star Wars can continue to integrate ideas from The Rise of Skywalker into future stories, possibly delving into Palpatine and Snoke through the TV shows’ focus on cloning. The franchise should also strive to keep creating fun and obscure Star Wars characters for talented cosplayers to adapt.
