Vin Diesel reveals the perfect inspiration for Brie Larson’s Fast X character. The long-running franchise centered around street racing, the occasional heist, and Vin Diesel’s love of family is set to receive an epic two-part finale starting with Fast X. The penultimate installment introduces two major characters played by A-list actors – Games of Thrones alum Jason Momoa as Dante Reyes, the son of Fast Five‘s Hernan Reyes and Fast X‘s central villain, and the Oscar-winning Brie Larson as Tess, a new ally for Dom’s crew.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

For a new profile of Larson by Harper’s Bazaar, Diesel spoke to the fashion magazine and revealed that the actress based her Fast X character on his eight-year-old daughter, specifically her wardrobe. When the two first met, Diesel’s daughter was wearing a jacket with “Good Vibes Only” printed across the back, which Larson decided to incorporate into the character of Tess. Brie went to the wardrobe department and had them re-create the jacket. She wore it throughout the movie.

Vin Diesel’s Reveal Supports A Big Fast X Theory

In Fast X, Larson’s Tess is a rouge representative of Mr. Nobody’s covert agency who allies with Dom and his crew in the fight against Dante. However, there is expected to be much more than meets the eye when it comes to Larson’s new character, as a popular Fast X theory is that Tess is Brian O’Connor’s sister. Both Diesel and the film’s director Louis Leterrier have made comments that seem to support this theory, saying that Tess is connected to the franchise’s legacy in a strong way.

In a way, the fact that Larson drew inspiration from Diesel’s daughter helps support the theory that Tess is Brian’s sister. Diesel’s daughter is named Pauline after the late Fast & Furious franchise star Paul Walker, who played Brian in six films before passing away in 2013, but will return in Fast X via flashbacks. It’s only appropriate that, in a franchise all about family, Larson drew inspiration from Diesel’s actual family for her character in Fast X. However, given the ties, it also hints at a more meaningful familial connection between Tess and Brian.
