The Last Kingdom’s movie finale, Seven Kings Must Die, finally sets its release date, which will serve as the conclusion to the series.

Netflix has revealed the release date for Seven Kings Must Die, the movie finale of The Last Kingdom. The series detailed the rise of England amidst Viking voyages to Anglo-Saxon land and ran for five seasons from 2015 to 2022. Seven Kings Must Die will be the culminating moment for the show as all of its arcs are brought to closure.

Now, Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Alexander Dreymon) must begin his final attempt to unite England in Seven Kings Must Die. The standalone The Last Kingdom movie will be less of a continuation and more of an aftermath event telling its own story. The final moments of The Last Kingdom are quickly approaching, as Seven Kings Must Die releases on Netflix on April 14, according to a report from Variety.

The majority of the cast of The Last Kingdom is set to return in Seven Kings Must Die. Alongside Dreymon, Finn Elliot (Young Uhtred), Ruby Hartley (Stiorra), Rod Hallett (King Constantin), Timothy Innes (King Edward), Cavan Clerkin (Father Pyrlig), Stefanie Martini (Lady Eadith), Olly Rhodes (Osbert), and more are expected to appear in the production. Whether they will arrive in Uhtred’s Bebbanburg remains in question.

With King Edward dead, it will be Uhtred’s responsibility to bring stability to England in Seven Kings Must Die. As heirs and intruders compete for the crown, he will need to unite England under one banner to ensure their safety. In the process, Netflix promises that he will need to choose between his loved ones and the land and people he has been striving to bring together throughout The Last Kingdom.

The project is being directed by Ed Bazalgette, who previously worked on The Last Kingdom. Seven Kings Must Die will be 120 minutes long and will serve as the complete ending of the show with no chance at future seasons. Numerous plot points need to conclude before The Last Kingdom ends in order to give a satisfying ending.
