Screen Rant has an exclusive first look at the trailer for Followers, a new found-footage fright fest from the producers of Anna and the Apocalypse.

Screen Rant is thrilled to present an exclusive first look at the trailer for Followers, which premieres through digital platforms on March 24. Produced by much of the team behind 2017’s underdog hit Anna and the Apocalypse, the new film follows in the footsteps of socially-conscious horror projects like Get Out and Black Mirror. After a silly prank aimed at YouTube fame spirals out of control, an influencer and his roommates must warn the world about a supernatural serial killer.

Followers, which is the last film directed by the late Marcus Harben, combines the tropes of the found-footage horror story popularized by The Blair Witch Project and injects the hip comedic tone of a teen drama. It comes as no surprise that many of the minds behind Anna and the Apocalypse worked on Followers, for the humorous beats land perfectly based on the trailer.

The trailer from Followers, which can be viewed first exclusively on Screen Rant, showcases the over-reliance on social media exhibited by struggling influencer Jonty Craig (Harry Jarvis, The Knight Before Christmas). His college experience and life with his three housemates is interrupted by his own intense desire for validation through the internet, leading him to live stream the apparent haunting of his new living space. But when the thrills turn all to real and murder is all around them, the friends must band together to make use of the followers Jonty has lovingly amassed to stop something even worse from happening.

Alongside Jarvis, Followers also stars Loreece Harrison (Black Mirror), Erin Austen (The Royals), Daniel Cahill (Anna and the Apocalypse), Nina Wadia (Aladdin), Orion Lee (Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi), and Tanya Burr. In order to fully capture the authentic feel of found footage, over 70% of the movie was filmed by the actors themselves, adding to their passion for the project. Furthermore, Followers expands on the theme of teens wielding technology for the greater good, as seen in the recent film Missing.
