Mahershala Ali’s Blade & Kit Harrington’s Black Knight Team Up in MCU Fan Trailer

[ad_1]

Mahershala Ali’s Blade and Kit Harrington’s Black Knight team up together in a new Marvel Cinematic Universe Blade fan-trailer. One of the upcoming MCU films that have been in the works since before lockdowns changed the MCU’s release schedule is Blade, with Ali headlining the property. After having starred in Luke Cage as Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, Ali is getting another go with the MCU, but this time as Eric Cross Brooks, a.k.a. Blade. However, the reboot has faced a few hurdles along the way, including losing its initial director Bassam Tariq. As of right now, Blade will come out toward the end of Phase 5.

With the Blade movie still in pre-production, many are imagining what Ali’s take on the iconic Marvel hero will look like in the MCU. According to Kevin Feige, Ali was the one who pitched the idea of him starring in a reboot to Marvel Studios.

While Blade will get started on principal photography later this spring, Screen Culture recently debuted a new fan-made trailer as a proof of concept. The trailer sees Ali’s Blade joining forces with Harringston’s Eternals character, Dane Whitman, a.k.a. the Black Knight.

Everything We Know About MCU’s Blade

While Stacy Osei-Kuffour had penned a script for Blade during Tariq’s time on the project, the reboot is starting over from scratch. Michael Starrbury was hired in November 2022 to write a whole new script for the MCU installment. Lovecraft Country director Yann Demange was also tapped to replace Tariq, making it a whole new creative team for Blade. Filming will take place in Atlanta, as well as in Cleveland, New Orleans, and Morocco.

Thus far, very little is known about the MCU’s incarnation of Blade, as Ali hasn’t even popped up on the screen yet. The only presence Blade has had thus far was during the ending of Eternals, where Ali had a vocal cameo appearance when he asks Dane if he is actually ready for the Ebony Blade. The Ebony Blade was initially going to be part of Blade, suggesting that Harrington’s character will appear in the movie. It remains to be seen if Demange and Starrbury’s script will include the setup from Eternals.

Outside of Ali, Blade currently has only two confirmed cast members attached: Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre. If filming is indeed set to begin soon, there will likely be more cast members added before cameras start rolling on Blade. It will be intriguing to see how Blade fits into the MCU as a whole, given that he is one of the darker characters in the Marvel lore. But hopefully, now that they have had a chance to retool the Blade reboot, the wait will be worth it when the film arrives in 2024.
