Fall 2 Return Addressed By Becky Actor After Hard-Won Survival In First Movie

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Fall 2022Fall star Grace Caroline Curry has discussed whether or not she might return in the film’s upcoming sequel. The scrappy acrophobic thriller, which follows two young free-climbers who get stuck on top of a 2,000 foot TV tower, came to theaters on August 12, 2022 and racked up a modest $21.8 million at the box office. The film garnered a much heartier audience when it landed on Netflix, leading to an announcement this March that it would be getting a sequel.

The Hollywood Reporter recently sat down with Curry to discuss her new film Shazam! Fury of the Gods. However, during their conversation, the topic also turned to the Fall sequel. She expressed her surprise that the film turned out to be a hit and her excitement that it’s getting a sequel, following up with the fact that “getting to return would definitely be really cool.” Read her full quote below:

I am definitely excited about the idea of [Fall 2]. It’s been a surprise to see how much people love that movie and how it’s had a little bit of a wildfire on streaming platform.It definitely makes us happy just because we didn’t think we were gonna have a movie when we were shooting it. It was such a nightmare just trying to get the movie shot. So the idea of getting to return would definitely be really cool, and I’m sure it would try to one-up the first one, which is a little scary to think about.

How Could Becky Return in Fall 2?

While Currey wouldn’t be opposed to appearing in Fall 2, it doesn’t necessarily make sense that Becky would be eager to get back to climbing. The original film followed her grieving the loss of her husband (Mason Gooding) during a free climbing accident and reluctantly returning to climb the decommissioned tower. While she survived the ending of Fall, her best friend Hunter (Virginia Gardner) wasn’t quite so lucky, which would presumably lead Becky to be hesitant to pull off a similar stunt any time soon.

The most likely option for Fall 2 would be to assemble a new crew of climbers to go through a similar survival experience. This was the route taken by the shark survival sequel 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, which didn’t share any cast members with the original 47 Meters Down. However, there might be some ways to up the ante and have Becky return at the same time.

One option that is somewhat in character would be to have her take on one last daring climb out of her grief over Hunter’s loss. However, the most probable option for Becky’s Fall 2 return would be to introduce heights in a different way than having her climb toward them. The plot of the film could follow an accident like a plane crash that leaves her and others stranded on a cliff or something similarly precarious, forcing her to face her greatest fear again without walking straight into it.
