In the final of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Ravindra Jadeja exhibited his exceptional batting skills as the dynamic all-rounder orchestrated a remarkable comeback, propelling Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to secure their fifth title, equalling the record held by Mumbai Indians (MI).

During the rain-interrupted last-ball thriller against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad, with 10 runs needed from the final two deliveries, Jadeja unleashed a powerful six and a four off Mohit Sharma, leading MS Dhoni and his team to a thrilling 5-wicket victory over the defending champions.

Following a frustrating rain delay, Chennai displayed an impressive collective effort in their pursuit of a revised target of 171 runs in 15 overs. The batters synchronized their efforts flawlessly, ensuring that the required run rate never escalated dramatically in the face of a steep chase. In the end, it was Jadeja’s composed innings of 15 not out that proved pivotal, as he scored 10 crucial runs off the final two deliveries to secure an unforgettable victory.

Devon Conway played a leading role in the chase with his explosive 47 off just 25 balls, laying a solid foundation for the team. Contributions from Ajinkya Rahane (27) and Shivam Dube, who remained unbeaten on 32, further set the stage for Jadeja’s heroics.

In his 250th IPL match, Dhoni experienced a rare failure as he was dismissed for a golden duck, leaving the crowd in stunned silence. Nonetheless, fate favoured Dhoni in his 10th appearance in an IPL final as captain, as his team emerged victorious.

Seeing the thrilling finish, not only were the CSK fans ecstatic, but the cricket fraternity on Twitter was over the moon as well.

Here are the reactions:

Earlier in the match, Sai Sudharsan played a sensational knock of 96 runs off 47 balls, guiding the Titans to a mammoth total of 214-4. Shubman Gill, the in-form opener, contributed a quickfire 39 off 20 balls before falling victim to Dhoni’s lightning-quick stumping off Jadeja.

Gill’s opening partner Wriddhiman Saha contributed with a solid half-century, scoring 54 runs and forming a 64-run partnership with Sudharsan, who took charge after Saha’s dismissal.
