Salma Hayek’s lap dance in Magic Mike’s Last Dance almost ended in utter disaster. The upcoming threequel will act as the final installment in the Magic Mike trilogy that started in 2012 with the film of the same name, following Channing Tatum’s titular stripper who dreams of starting his own business. With Magic Mike’s Last Dance‘s release right around the corner, the movie’s marketing campaign is in full swing, much of which has focused on a lascivious lap dance that Tatum’s character gives Hayek’s.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Hayek discusses making Magic Mike’s Last Dance with Tatum, including receiving a very rigorous lap dance from him.

The Magic Mike’s Last Dance star recalls in great detail how the acrobatic lap dance was filmed, which required her to be held upside by Tatum – and almost ended in disaster. See what she shares below:

Yeah, it was also challenging technical. There’s one part that’s not in it where I’m upside down and my legs had to be somewhere, but upside down one loses a sense of direction and I didn’t do what I was supposed to do, so in the rehearsal I went like head down, almost hit my head. He held on to my pants, but I was really concerned because my pants were going away and I couldn’t remember if I had underwear or not in this moment. So instead of putting my hands to protect my head, I just held on to the pants and he’s like, “Put your hands up!” and I’m like, “No no no no.” Hold on to my legs, I’m like “No no no.” Until everybody came in and kind of took me away from him and he said, “What’s wrong with you?” and I said “What’s wrong with me? You nearly killed me!”

What To Expect From Magic Mike’s Last Dance

Magic Mike 3 Dance Scene

While the first two Magic Mike movies were set in Tampa, Florida, the third film will find Tatum’s titular character traveling across the pond to London for his last dance. There, he meets a wealthy socialite, played by Hayek, who makes Mike an offer he can’t refuse. Not much else is known about her character or the plot of Magic Mike’s Last Dance, though Tatum has described the threequel as a “fish-out-of-water” and a “reverse-role Pretty Woman story.”

While the third film will focus on the relationship between Mike Lane and Hayek’s character, Magic Mike’s Last Dance will focus less on the characters and more on the dancing, as Tatum has promised. The marketing campaign has mostly focused on two specific dance scenes, including the aforementioned lap dance, which was revealed by a first-look image and teased further by the Magic Mike’s Last Dance trailer. The movie will also end with an epic 30-minute dance sequence to wrap up the trilogy, as teased by another image of Tatum and Hayek.

Other than Tatum reprising his role as Mike Lane, he will be joined by a cast of newcomers that includes Ayub Khan Din, Jemelia George, Juliette Motamed, Vicki Pepperdine, Gavin Spokes, Caitlin Gerard, and Christopher Bencomo, many of whom will also be showing off their dance moves. Steven Soderbergh, who directed the first Magic Mike but not the sequel, is also back for the final tease. The wait for Magic Mike’s Last Dance is almost over, as the movie releases in theaters Valentine’s Day weekend, on February 10.
