The first The Venture Bros. movie image gives the first look at Brock’s return in the film that will act as a finale for the Adult Swim show.
Nearly five years after the show originally ended, the first The Venture Bros. movie image has arrived revealing Brock’s return. Inspired by such ’60s Saturday morning cartoons as Jonny Quest, and created by Jackson Publick and co-written by Doc Hammer, the Adult Swim series centered on the eponymous family of adventurers as they venture around the globe and combat with a variety of threats, including the bizarre supervillain The Monarch. After seven acclaimed seasons, The Venture Bros. was cancelled by Adult Swim, though was swiftly confirmed to have a film continuation in the works.
Fresh off his recent update on the project, Jackson Publick took to Twitter to offer the first look at The Venture Bros. movie.
The image, released in honor of the 20th anniversary of the show’s pilot, reveals Brock’s return to the screen, out in the field on an espionage mission. The Venture Bros. movie image also compares how Brock looks in the original pilot for the beloved Adult Swim series in comparison to the upcoming film.
Everything We Know About The Venture Bros. Movie
The first Venture Bros. movie image is sure to help build some anticipation for Brock’s return, but it also offers an interesting tease for longtime fans of the show with the return of the Office of Secret Intelligence. Better known as the O.S.I., Brock had worked for the secret U.S. government branch prior to being the Ventures’ bodyguard, helping them monitor supervillain activity, including the Guild of Calamitous Intent. Inspired by G.I. Joe and Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D., the O.S.I memorably was briefly disbanded when the agency’s disillusioned members re-purposed the former terrorist organization S.P.H.I.N.X. into an independent spy group.
Near The Venture Bros.‘ end, the O.S.I. would get redrafted with the previous agents, including Patrick Warburton’s Brock, thus seeing former Monarch henchman Gary left in charge, and it eventually reverted to its supervillain ways. Given Brock was last seen still working for the O.S.I., it may not come across as much of a surprise to see him on a mission with them, though the nature of it is currently unclear. With the series finale seeing the family looking for a runaway Hank after waking from his coma, Brock may be using his agency resources to save the young Venture.
Not much is known about the plot for The Venture Bros. movie, but it is expected to act as a finale for the Adult Swim series. In addition to the return of the Ventures and Brock, Doc Hammer confirmed in late 2021 that beloved O.S.I. character Shoreleave would also be making his return for the film. With editing seemingly nearly complete, updates for The Venture Bros. movie’s release should come in the near future.
