Black Panther: Wakanda Forever breaks a Disney+ viewership record as it has the biggest debut for a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. Ryan Coogler’s highly anticipated Black Panther sequel released in theaters in November 2022 to great acclaim. The movie closed out MCU Phase 4 by having Shuri (Letitia Wright) step into the Black Panther mantle and lead Wakanda in a fight against Namor (Tenoch Huerta) and Talokan. After a very successful box office run that saw the film make over $800 million worldwide, Black Panther 2 was released on Disney+ in February 2023 ahead of its home media physical release.
Five days after the film debuted, Disney has now confirmed that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had the biggest debut for any MCU movie after it became available on Disney+.
