The Little Mermaid live-action film has offered audiences a chance to hear the new version of an iconic song from the original film. The project, which is a remake of the classic 1989 Disney animated musical, stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, a young mermaid who trades her voice for legs so she can explore the human world. Although the new film will also feature songs co-written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the bulk of the score will be the original Howard Ashman and Alan Menken songs from the original soundtrack, including the iconic tune “Part of Your World.”
Today, Disney released the official full recording of Halle Bailey singing “Part of Your World” in The Little Mermaid 2023. Give it a listen below:
Although they have not yet released a full clip from this moment in the film, this soundtrack release gives the most unadulterated glimpse into how the new movie musical will operate. Bailey tackles the iconic song, which was originally sung by Ariel voice actress Jodi Benson, with aplomb.
