New Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse fan poster shows Tom Holland’s Spider-Man as he recruits Miles Morales to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There have been rumors for quite some time that one of the three live-action Spider-Men, or all of them, would appear in the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel. Since late last year, rumors have swirled that Holland’s Spider-Man will appear in the movie, and this new fan art imagines him meeting Miles Morales.
On Instagram, digital artist Agt Design shared a fan art of Holland’s Peter Parker arriving through a portal to meet Miles in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
The Holland in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse theory recently got another tease, with a rumor from Jeff Sneider on THE HOT MIC podcast claiming that the character was set to appear in the movie, but in live-action. Miles Morales would travel to a live-action dimension — maybe the MCU — where he would meet Holland’s Spider-Man.
Could Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Set Up Miles In The MCU?
If Sony is indeed going to the length of having Holland appear in the movie, not in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse‘s signature animated style but in a live-action universe, then there is reason to believe something big might come out of that moment. The original Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse focused on Miles meeting variant Spider-Men who came to his universe, while the sequel will have the hero venture into the wider multiverse. Sony and Marvel have repaired their relationship, with a Spider-Man 4 starring Holland already having its story set. There would not be a single impediment to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse seeing Miles visit Holland in the MCU.
Marvel Studios is currently deep into its Multiverse Saga, with several projects set to explore different universes, pairing beloved MCU heroes with new characters, or even returning actors from other Marvel franchises, both of which could be seen in Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There are only two issues related to the possibility of Miles meeting Holland’s Peter in the MCU in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The first one is that the movie would need to be careful to not have Holland steal the spotlight, especially since the rumor says he would appear in live-action.
The other is related to how Miles would appear in such a scene. Marvel likely wants to cast its own Miles for the MCU, so if the live-action scene really is in the movie, and takes place in the MCU, then a setup for Miles joining that universe could be done by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse showing Miles in animation, while Holland’s Peter is in live-action. This would allow the MCU to debut its Miles Morales actor in the future.
