Gorgeous Avatar 2 Fan Art Is As Stunning As The Movie Itself

[ad_1]

New Avatar: The Way of Water fan art is just as breathtaking as the film itself. The film, which opened in theaters on December 16, 2022, has since become one of the highest-grossing films of all time. It follows original Avatar 2009 characters Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe SaldaƱa) as they attempt to protect their children, both biological and adopted, from a brand new human threat on Pandora.

On Twitter, fan artist Denilveart shared a brand new digital painting inspired by two Avatar: The Way of Water characters.

The art brings the aquatic world of Avatar 2 to life, showing Jake and Neytiri in an underwater embrace. Although it is presented in a different art style from the photorealistic CGI used in the movie, it effortlessly captures the eye-popping colors and textures of Pandora.

Avatar 2’s Aquatic Setting Explained

Considering the title The Way of Water, the aquatic setting is very important to the film. One of its most important functions is to take Jake and Neytiri out of the forest tribe and their comfort zone. When on the run from the humans, they must take shelter with a water tribe and learn their ways, communing with Pandora in a much deeper way than they ever have.

However, the setting is also part of a larger overall vision. If the films are meant to be mapped onto the four natural elements of earth, water, fire, and air, the first film can be considered representative of earth with its focus on forests and mining. The second film fills in what Pandora can deliver when it comes to the element of water, reveling in the majestic creatures and jaw-dropping vistas that come from its seas.

While the setting of Avatar: The Way of Water will likely be revisited in the upcoming Avatar 3, that film will also explore Pandora even further. Currently, what has been revealed is that the film will include a tribe of fire Na’vi who will reside near a volcano. If James Cameron intends to explore all the natural elements, the fourth Avatar film may take place largely in the sky to explore the air of Pandora.
