Live-Action Lilo & Stitch Has Found Their Cobra Bubbles With Award-Winning Actor

The live-action Lilo & Stitch remake casts an award-winning actor to play Cobra Bubbles. Released in 2002, the animated Disney movie charts the heartwarming friendship between a rambunctious but lonely Hawaiian girl, Lilo, and a blue koala-like alien named Stitch who is genetically engineered to cause chaos and destruction. In the animated Lilo & Stitch, the character of Cobra Bubbles (voiced by Ving Rhames) is a CIA agent working undercover as a social worker for Lilo after her parents died in a car crash.

Now, as the Lilo & Stitch live-action remake cast continues to expand, the Disney movie has officially filled a fan-favorite role. According to Deadline, Courtney B. Vance has been cast as Cobra Bubbles. The actor is a two-time Emmy Award winner for his performances in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story and Lovecraft Country, in addition to a Tony Award winner for Nora Ephron’s Lucky Guy. His big-screen credits include The Hunt for Red October, Space Cowboys, Terminator Genisys, The Mummy, and Isle of Dogs.

Every Actor Cast In The Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Remake

The live-action Lilo & Stitch, which is from Marcel the Shell with Shoes On director Dean Fleischer Camp, was first announced with Zach Galifianakis starring in a lead role. While it remains unclear who he will be playing, it’s likely Galifianakis is voicing Stitch, though Billy Magnussen has also been cast in an undisclosed role. To play the other titular character in live-action, Lilo & Stitch cast newcomer Maia Kealoha. Subsequent castings have followed this trend, including Sydney Agudong as Nani and David Kawena as David.

Outside of Galifianakis and Magnussen, Vance is undoubtedly the most accomplished actor of the bunch. While many would have preferred Rhames, it makes sense for a veteran actor like Vance to play Bubbles, a seasoned CIA agent once involved in the Roswell UFO incident, while opting for newcomers for the film’s younger characters. Despite causing a colorism controversy with its Nani casting, the live-action Lilo & Stitch cast is coming together nicely, though it still has some more major roles to fill, including the aliens Jumba, Pleakley, and Gantu.
